How to get through the election

This has been an extremely rough year for everyone, and the fact that it is also an election year makes it even worse. Between the pandemic, a highly divided nation, and growing civil unrest, it is no surprise that everyone is extremely stressed out by this election and what will happen over the next few months. It goes without saying that people are in need of some kind of respite from all the stress.

But how do you manage something so stressful? Beyond voting, there is little one person can do to help with the election situation. At that point, the only way you can get through the election is to find a way to relieve your stress. There are several things you can do to help with this, including taking supplement to help with stress

 

Dietary supplements

There is a wide variety of products on the market, usually some kind of edible gummy or pill, that help you manage anxiety or stress. These sorts of supplements can be found at your local grocery store or pharmacy. However, it isn’t recommended to just grab the first one you see. It is better to research and see which one will help you the most. 

Since a lot of these supplements are often not approved by the FDA, it is recommended that you talk to a doctor first to ensure that the supplement will not have any interactions with medications you might be taking. 

 

Take time for yourself

Do you have a favorite hobby? It doesn’t matter what that hobby is, be it watching a show or playing a video game. Taking time out of your busy day for recreation will allow you to take your mind off of the election. By allowing yourself a little escapism in moderation you will be able to relieve some of your stress. While it won’t help with the election, it will help you feel better about the situation.  

 

Go out for some fresh air

Even when you aren’t dealing with a very stressful situation, spending time in the great outdoors has been proven to be a very healthy thing for you to do for both your physical and mental health. Take a walk or maybe go for a ride on your bicycle. Staying cooped up in the house will not help your stress in the slightest.

 

Unplug yourself

With technology being where it is today, it makes it very easy to know about anything that has happened in the world almost immediately. With just a click of the button, you have immediate access to breaking news from all across the world.  Unfortunately, this is a double edged sword, as it can become a habit that you waste a lot of time on.

So stop refreshing the front page of your favorite news website. Stop scrolling on social media. Just close your apps and take your mind off of the election.  The world is not going to end if you take thirty minutes to an hour to just disconnect and take time to relax. Those posts featuring silly pictures of cats will still be there when you come back from your internet break. 

 

The best path

As you can see, there are many ways to cope with the current political situation. You’ve performed your civic duty and now all that remains is to wait for the results to be made official early next year. You’ve done everything you can, and you deserve to rest and take care of yourself. There are many ways to do that, so pick the one that best suits you and you will make it through this election year just fine.
